Virtual Rock Climbing-Maybe Not As Safe As You Thought
Using virtual reality headsets has been promoted as a totally safe way for someone to learn and practice climbing with no risk. The “climber” is presented with a climbing environment through a headset screen and can move around in the virtual environment by gripping actual hand holds and moving through the climbing challenge presented there.
This climber (click here to view Gizmodo video) was clearly not as safe as he might have thought. He was able to achieve a real “face plant”, even though there was no real risk.
